How to Make Beefy Tomato Sandwiches
- Cook 4 slices bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 8 minutes.
- Remove bacon and drain on paper towels. Break each slice in half.
- While bacon cooks, puree 1 (28 ounce) can of whole peeled tomatoes with 1 tablespoon of their reserved oil in a blender until mostly smooth.
- In a medium bowl, mix the tomato puree with 1/2 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Spread half of the tomato mixture on the bottom halves of 4 hamburger buns.
- Top each bun with 3-4 ounces thinly sliced roast beef, 3 pieces of bacon, and 1 slice of provolone cheese.
- Preheat an outdoor grill or grill pan to medium-low heat.
- Place the sandwiches (bottom halves down) and the bun tops on the preheated grill.
- Cover and cook for 5 minutes, or until the rolls are toasted and the cheese is melted and the meat is heated through.
- Spread the remaining tomato mixture on the top bun halves.
- Place the top halves on the sandwiches and serve immediately.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
