How to Make Stove Top Bbq Beef Or Pork Ribs
- Cut ribs into approximately 2-inch serving size pieces.
- Season ribs generously with salt and pepper.
- In a large Dutch oven, brown the ribs in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Brown on all sides, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pot.
- Remove ribs from the pot and set aside.
- Add 1 large chopped onion to the Dutch oven and sauté until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
- Return the ribs to the pot.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the following ingredients: 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the ribs in the Dutch oven.
- Add 1 cup of beef broth or water to the pot.
- Cover the Dutch oven and cook over low heat for approximately 2 hours, or until the ribs are fork-tender, stirring occasionally. Add more liquid if needed to prevent sticking.
- Once tender, remove the lid and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
