How to Make Apple Friendship Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  3. Add: 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg.
  4. Gently fold in: 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and diced), 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans recommended).
  5. Grease and flour two 9x5 inch loaf pans, or spray with baking spray.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar with 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
  7. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly into each prepared loaf pan, coating the bottom and sides.
  8. Pour batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top of the batter.
  10. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Let the bread cool in the pans for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
