Ingredients for Aussie Burgers
- 2 kaiser rolls
- Eggs
- Bacon
- 500g ground beef (20% fat recommended)
- Cheese
- Lettuce
- Pineapple Rings
- Onions
- Tomatoes
- Beetroots
- Ketchup, to taste
How to Make Aussie Burgers
- Preheat your grill or frying pan to medium-high heat.
- Slice the kaiser rolls in half and lightly toast the cut sides (optional, for extra flavour). Set aside.
- Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (approximately 250g each). Gently form each portion into a patty, about 1cm thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from bulging during cooking.
- Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness. Add cheese during the last minute of cooking if using.
- While the patties cook, prepare your chosen burger toppings.
- Place the cooked patties on the bottom halves of the kaiser rolls.
- Layer your favourite toppings on top of the patty. Get creative! A classic Aussie combo might include beetroot, cheese, tomato, onion and BBQ sauce.
- Top with ketchup and the top half of the kaiser roll.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Aussie Burger masterpiece!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
