Ingredients for Aussie Burgers

  • 2 kaiser rolls
  • Eggs
  • Bacon
  • 500g ground beef (20% fat recommended)
  • Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Pineapple Rings
  • Onions
  • Tomatoes
  • Beetroots
  • Ketchup, to taste

How to Make Aussie Burgers

  1. Preheat your grill or frying pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Slice the kaiser rolls in half and lightly toast the cut sides (optional, for extra flavour). Set aside.
  3. Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (approximately 250g each). Gently form each portion into a patty, about 1cm thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from bulging during cooking.
  4. Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness. Add cheese during the last minute of cooking if using.
  6. While the patties cook, prepare your chosen burger toppings.
  7. Place the cooked patties on the bottom halves of the kaiser rolls.
  8. Layer your favourite toppings on top of the patty. Get creative! A classic Aussie combo might include beetroot, cheese, tomato, onion and BBQ sauce.
  9. Top with ketchup and the top half of the kaiser roll.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy your Aussie Burger masterpiece!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Elevate your dish with simple flavor boosters! A final flourish of freshly chopped herbs can add incredible brightness, while a squeeze of lemon or lime juice right before serving can awaken all the flavors. Don't underestimate a sprinkle of quality finishing salt or a drizzle of good olive oil to make your creation shine.
