How to Make Beer Baked Beans
- Sauté one medium onion, chopped, and one bell pepper (any color), chopped, in 2 tablespoons of butter until softened (about 5 minutes).
- In your crockpot, combine the sautéed onion and pepper with 1 (15-ounce) can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed), 1 (15-ounce) can of pinto beans (drained and rinsed), 1 (15-ounce) can of baked beans, 1 cup of your favorite beer (stout or porter recommended), 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of molasses, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of mustard, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Before serving, taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Consider adding a dash of hot sauce for extra kick!
