How to Make Spicy Seafood And Penne

  1. Chop 1 medium onion.
  2. Mince 2 cloves garlic.
  3. Peel and devein 1 pound shrimp, cut in half lengthwise.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Add onion and garlic; cook 2 minutes, until onion is translucent.
  6. Stir in 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  7. Crush tomatoes with a fork; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
  8. While sauce simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add 1 pound penne pasta and cook for 9 minutes, until slightly underdone. Drain and set aside.
  9. In a large, deep skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
  10. Add shrimp and cook 2-3 minutes, until pink.
  11. Add 8 ounces sea scallops and stir 10 seconds, until outsides are white.
  12. Remove skillet from heat.
  13. Add cooked pasta, tomato sauce, 1 cup frozen peas, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, and 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil to the skillet.
  14. Stir to combine.
  15. Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
  16. Pour pasta mixture into the dish and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
  17. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes.
  18. Uncover and bake for 10 minutes longer, or until heated through and the top is lightly browned.
