  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 15 oz (1 container) cottage cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

How to Make String Pie

  1. Brown 1 lb ground beef (and 1/2 lb Italian sausage, optional) with 1 medium onion (chopped), 1 green bell pepper (chopped), and 2 cloves garlic (minced) in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes and 24 oz (2 jars) of your favorite spaghetti sauce. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together 1 lb cooked spaghetti, 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 2 large eggs, and 4 tablespoons butter.
  5. Spread the spaghetti mixture into a greased 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  6. Spread 15 oz (1 container) of cottage cheese evenly over the spaghetti.
  7. Pour the meat sauce over the cottage cheese.
