Ingredients for Abba S Ginger Turkey Burgers

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • Scallion
  • Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • Fresh Ginger
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh Orange Juice
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Dairy Free Margarine
  • 1 tsp dried lemon basil (or 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil)

How to Make Abba S Ginger Turkey Burgers

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 lb ground turkey, 2 chopped scallions, ½ cup breadcrumbs, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger, and 1 clove minced garlic.
  2. Season with salt and pepper to taste (optional).
  3. Gently mix all ingredients until just combined.
  4. Divide the turkey mixture into 8 equal portions.
  5. Shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick.
  6. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  7. In a small saucepan, combine ¼ cup orange juice, 2 tbsp lemon juice, and 1 tbsp soy sauce.
  8. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook until reduced by half, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. Add 4 turkey patties to the skillet and cook for 7-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through and browned.
  10. While the first batch cooks, preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) to keep the cooked patties warm.
  11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 with the remaining 4 patties.
  12. Once the sauce is reduced, stir in 1 tbsp margarine and 1 tsp dried lemon basil (or 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil).
  13. Pour the sauce over the cooked turkey burgers.
  14. Serve immediately over rice or your favorite sides.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
