  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Red Apples
  • Green Grapes
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

How to Make Apple Pineapple Salad

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Pour reserved pineapple juice into a saucepan. Add margarine and lemon juice.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until margarine is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Gradually whisk in the cornstarch slurry, stirring constantly.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until it dissolves completely. Let cool to room temperature (approximately 30 minutes).
