- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
- Onion
- 1 pound bacon, cut into 1/2-inch strips
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk

How to Make Bacon Mac N Cheese
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- While pasta cooks, melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- In a separate skillet, cook bacon until crispy. Remove bacon, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon grease. Set bacon aside.
- Add reserved bacon grease to the onions in the saucepan. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened. Bring to a simmer.
