Ingredients for Bacon Spaghetti

  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • Diced Tomato
  • Onion
  • Black Pepper
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How to Make Bacon Spaghetti

  1. Cook 1/2 pound bacon until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, reserving about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
  2. Add 1 diced medium onion, 1 diced green bell pepper, and 2 cloves minced garlic to the pan with the bacon grease. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Crumble the cooked bacon into bite-sized pieces. Add to the tomato mixture along with 1/2 cup of bacon grease.
  5. Cook 1 pound spaghetti according to package directions. Once cooked, drain and add it to the pan with the bacon and tomato sauce. Toss to coat.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with extra bacon crumbles if desired. Enjoy with garlic bread!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
