Ingredients for Baked Potato Skins

  • Baking Potatoes
  • Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooked Bacon
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sour cream, to taste
  • Green Onions

How to Make Baked Potato Skins

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F (240°C).
  2. Cut 2 large russet potatoes in half lengthwise.
  3. Scoop out the potato pulp, leaving a 1/4-inch shell. Reserve the potato pulp for another use (e.g., mashed potatoes).
  4. Place potato skins on a greased baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  6. Brush the mixture evenly over both sides of the potato skins.
  7. Bake for 7 minutes.
  8. Flip the potato skins.
  9. Bake for another 7 minutes, or until the skins are crispy.
  10. Remove from oven and sprinkle 1/4 cup cooked bacon crumbles and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese inside each skin.
  11. Return to the oven and bake for 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Top with a dollop of sour cream and chopped green onions.
  13. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
