Ingredients for Banana Chocolate Loaf

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Banana
  • Cake Flour
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate chips

How to Make Banana Chocolate Loaf

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) softened unsalted butter and 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in 2 large eggs one at a time, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and ½ teaspoon salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, dissolve 1 teaspoon baking soda and 2 teaspoons baking powder into 1 cup sour cream.
  5. Add the sour cream mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Mash 3 ripe bananas and stir them into the batter.
  7. Gradually add 2 cups all-purpose flour, mixing until just incorporated. Stir in 1 ½ cups chocolate chips.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. If the loaf browns too quickly, tent it loosely with foil.
  10. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
