How to Make Barbecue Beef Stew

  1. In a large skillet, brown 2 lbs beef stew meat in 2 tablespoons of hot oil over medium-high heat. Brown on all sides.
  2. Drain off excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Place 1 large onion, thinly sliced into rings, 1 green bell pepper, chopped, and 2 cloves garlic, minced, in your crockpot.
  4. Place the browned beef on top of the vegetables.
  5. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper.
  6. Add 2 cups beef broth, 1 (28 ounce) can undrained crushed tomatoes, 1 cup sliced mushrooms, and 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce.
