How to Make Basic Beef Stew Very Hearty
- In a small bowl, dissolve 2 beef bouillon cubes in 1 cup of warm water.
- In a large resealable plastic bag, combine 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 tablespoon paprika.
- Add 2 lbs of beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes, to the bag. Seal and shake to coat the meat evenly.
- Spray your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Add the contents of the bag to the slow cooker.
- Add 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce and 2 bay leaves.
- Slowly pour 4 cups of beef broth over the beef mixture. Add 1 large chopped onion, 2 lbs peeled and cubed potatoes, 1 lb peeled and chopped carrots, and 2 chopped celery stalks.
- Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours, or until the beef is very tender.
- Before serving, stir gently to combine all ingredients. Remove bay leaves.
