How to Make Basturma Russian Marinated Skewered Beef
- In a large bowl, combine all marinade ingredients: 1 cup water, 1/4 cup paprika, 2 tbsp salt, 1 tbsp black pepper, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp red pepper flakes, 2 tbsp dried oregano, 1 tbsp cumin, 1 tsp coriander, 1/2 cup olive oil.
- Add 2 lbs beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes, to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are thoroughly coated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated beef cubes onto skewers.
- Grill the skewers for approximately 3-4 minutes per side, or until the beef reaches your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches at least 160°F (71°C).
