How to Make Benihana Teriyaki Steak Chicken
- Whisk together the teriyaki sauce ingredients (see below) in a small saucepan: 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup mirin, 1/4 cup sake, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, and 1 clove minced garlic.
- Bring the teriyaki sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 lb of thinly sliced steak and/or chicken breast to the hot skillet. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
- Add 2 chopped scallions (spring onions) to the skillet and stir-fry for 1 minute.
- Pour the cooled teriyaki sauce over the meat and vegetables. Stir-fry for another minute, allowing the sauce to coat everything evenly.
- Serve immediately over rice for a complete Benihana experience.
