Ingredients for Hot Spiced Holiday Punch

  • 6 cups apple cider
  • Cranberry Raspberry Juice
  • Fresh Raspberries
  • 1/2 cup brandy (optional)
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Whole Cloves
  • Whole Allspice
  • Cooking Apples

How to Make Hot Spiced Holiday Punch

  1. In a 4- to 5-quart Dutch oven, combine apple cider, cranberry-raspberry juice, raspberries, brandy (if using), brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, ground ginger, cloves, and allspice.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Remove from heat. Carefully strain the punch through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Return the strained punch to the Dutch oven or transfer to a slow cooker.
  6. Add apple wedges to the punch.
  7. If using a Dutch oven, cover and heat over low heat until the punch is warmed through, or if using a slow cooker, cover and cook on low until heated through.
  8. Pour the hot punch into heatproof mugs or serving bowls.
  9. Garnish each serving with an apple wedge and enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
