- 200g pitted dates
- 100ml water
- Bicarbonate Of Soda
- Milk Chocolate
- 200g softened butter
- Brown Sugar
- 50ml maple syrup
- 4 large eggs
- Self Raising Flour
- 150g chopped walnuts
How to Make Milk Chocolate Date And Walnut Loaf
- Place 200g pitted dates and 100ml water in a saucepan over low heat.
- Cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the liquid is absorbed and the dates are softened.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp baking soda. Allow to cool completely.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan/Gas Mark 4). Grease and line a 10cm x 21cm x 7cm loaf pan.
- Melt 200g milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring frequently with a metal spoon for 5 minutes, or until smooth and melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, cream together 200g softened butter, 200g granulated sugar, and 50ml maple syrup until light and fluffy.
- Add 4 large eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gently stir in the cooled melted chocolate.
- In a separate bowl, sift 250g all-purpose flour. Gradually add to the chocolate mixture, folding gently until just combined.
- Fold in the cooled date mixture and 150g chopped walnuts.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
