How to Make Antonella S Hoagie Dip
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Chop 8 oz hard salami, 8 oz ham, 8 oz provolone cheese, 1 cup tomatoes, 1 cup lettuce, and ½ cup onion into small, bite-sized pieces.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped meats, cheese, and vegetables.
- Add ½ cup Italian dressing, ½ cup mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon black pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Cut a rustic artisan loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Scoop out the center of the bread, cubing the removed bread into 1-inch pieces.
- Brush the inside of the bread with a little olive oil. Fill the hollowed-out loaf with the hoagie mixture.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted and the dip is heated through.
- Serve immediately with the reserved bread cubes for dipping.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
