How to Make Apple Apricot Pork Chops Crock Pot
- In your crock-pot, combine 4 boneless pork chops (1 inch thick), 1 large apple (peeled, cored, and diced), 1 cup dried apricots (chopped), 1/2 cup chicken broth, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours, or until the pork chops are fork-tender.
- About 30 minutes before serving, carefully remove the pork chops from the crock-pot and set aside. Pour the cooking liquid into a separate bowl, allowing it to cool slightly.
- Skim off excess fat from the cooking liquid.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry.
- Gradually whisk the cornstarch slurry into the cooking liquid in the bowl. Return the liquid to the crock-pot.
- Stir in the pork chops and cook on low for another 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Serve the Apple Apricot Pork Chops hot, over rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite side dish.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
