How to Make Bbq Ribs With Sauce

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a broiler pan bottom with aluminum foil.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the dry rub ingredients: 2 tbsp paprika, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp onion powder, 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional), 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp salt.
  4. Generously rub the mixture onto both sides of the ribs.
  5. Transfer the ribs to the prepared broiler pan rack.
  6. Cover tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  7. Roast ribs for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the meat between the ribs is fork-tender.
  8. While ribs roast, prepare the mopping sauce: In a 2-quart saucepan, combine 1 cup ketchup, ½ cup apple cider vinegar, ¼ cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, and 1 tsp smoked paprika.
  9. Bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat.
  10. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly reduced and thickened.
  11. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  12. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  13. Grill ribs for 10-15 minutes, basting frequently with the cooled mopping sauce and turning to ensure even charring and glazing.
  14. Transfer ribs to a cutting board.
  15. Cut into individual or double rib portions and serve immediately.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
