Ingredients for Coca Cola Pepper Steak

  • Sirloin Steak
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Green Pepper
  • 1/2 cup celery, thinly sliced
  • Onion
  • Coca Cola
  • 2 medium tomatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Rice

How to Make Coca Cola Pepper Steak

  1. Trim all fat from the 1 lb beef sirloin steak and cut into pencil-thin strips.
  2. In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add 2 minced cloves of garlic and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Add the beef strips and brown over high heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally with a fork.
  4. Add 1 cup of beef broth.
  5. Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the meat is fork-tender.
  6. Stir in 1 green bell pepper (thinly sliced), 1/2 cup thinly sliced celery, 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion, and 4 fluid ounces of Coca-Cola.
  7. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Do not overcook; the vegetables should be crisp-tender.
  8. Peel and cut 2 medium tomatoes into wedges; gently stir into the meat.
  9. In a small bowl, blend 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 fluid ounces of Coca-Cola and 1 tablespoon soy sauce until smooth.
  10. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the meat and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute, stirring lightly with a fork.
  11. Serve the Coca-Cola Pepper Steak over hot cooked rice.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
