  • Extra Lean Ground Beef
  • Onion
  • Mushroom
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • Tomatoes And Green Chilies
  • salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Goulash

  1. Cook 1 pound of pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 medium onion, chopped, and 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms. Saute until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet and brown, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Stir in 1 (28-ounce) can of crushed tomatoes, 1 (15-ounce) can of tomato sauce, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine. Heat through for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
