How to Make Rathu Isso Curry Sri Lankan Red Prawn Curry

  1. Wash 1 pound of prawns and remove heads, leaving shells on.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine 1 large onion (chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 inch ginger (grated), 1-2 green chilies (finely chopped, adjust to taste), 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon curry powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1 (14.5 ounce) can of diced tomatoes, 1 cup coconut milk, 1 cup water, and 1 strip of daun pandan or rampe leaf (about 4 inches).
