- 9-12 lasagna noodles
- 8 oz (225g) Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 4 oz (115g) cottage cheese
- Pasta Sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt And Pepper
- Frozen Broccoli
- Frozen Spinach
- 1/2 cup (75g) thinly sliced red onion (optional)
How to Make A Cheese Lasagna To Build On
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine 15 oz (425g) ricotta cheese, 8 oz (225g) Monterey Jack cheese (shredded), 4 oz (115g) cottage cheese, 1 large egg, 1/2 cup (60g) grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup (30ml) chopped fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix well.
- Spread a thin layer of cheese sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 3-4 lasagna noodles over the cheese sauce.
- Optional: Add 1 cup (100g) chopped spinach (for Dad), 1 cup (100g) chopped broccoli and 1/2 cup (75g) thinly sliced red onion (for you).
- Spread another layer of cheese sauce over the noodles and vegetables. Repeat layers 2-3 times.
- Top with remaining lasagna noodles and the rest of the cheese sauce.
- Sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese and optional mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.
