Ingredients for Asian Chicken And Lettuce Wraps

  • Ground Chicken
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Pepper Sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Iceberg Lettuce

How to Make Asian Chicken And Lettuce Wraps

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground chicken or turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 8-10 minutes). Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Transfer the cooked chicken to a bowl and set aside.
  3. Add the diced bell pepper and onion to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, soy sauce, and hot pepper sauce.
  7. Pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the skillet.
  8. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 4-5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and is absorbed by the chicken and vegetables, stirring occasionally.
  9. Stir in the chopped cilantro.
  10. Serve immediately in lettuce cups. Garnish with sesame seeds (optional).

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
