- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- Ground Ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Green Onions
How to Make Asian Drumstix
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Rinse chicken drumsticks and pat thoroughly dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, whisk together sesame oil, chopped onion, minced garlic, chicken broth, rice vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, apricot preserves, brown sugar, and grated ginger.
- Add chicken drumsticks to the bowl, ensuring they are evenly coated in the sauce.
- Arrange chicken drumsticks in a single layer in a baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear. Flip the drumsticks halfway through.
- While chicken is baking, prepare your desired sides.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Increase oven temperature to broil. Return chicken to oven and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and slightly thickened (watch carefully to prevent burning).
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with sesame seeds and/or sliced green onions.
- Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
