Ingredients for Leftovers Spaghetti Sauce
- Stewed Tomatoes
- Prego Spaghetti Sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- White Onion
- Granulated Sugar
How to Make Leftovers Spaghetti Sauce
- Brown 1 pound of ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add 1 medium onion, chopped, and 2 cloves garlic, minced, to the pot. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce, 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon dried basil, 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional), and salt and pepper to taste.
- Add any leftover vegetables (about 1 cup chopped, such as carrots, celery, bell peppers) you may have.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the richer the flavor will be!
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve over your favorite pasta.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Chef's secret: layers of flavor make a dish truly memorable! Consider what a little extra something could bring – perhaps a touch of acidity like a good vinegar or citrus zest, a hint of smokiness from paprika, a bit of umami from mushrooms or soy sauce, or a sprinkle of toasted nuts for texture. Experiment and taste as you go!
