Ingredients for Apple Syrup Cake

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • Cake Flour
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Apples

How to Make Apple Syrup Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pyrex baking dish.
  2. Cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter and 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with 1 cup milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  7. Gently fold in 4 cups peeled and diced apples.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Check for doneness at 25 minutes.
  10. While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup: In a small saucepan, combine ½ cup granulated sugar, ¼ cup water, ¼ cup apple cider, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  11. As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, immediately pour the warm syrup evenly over the top.
  12. Let the cake cool completely before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream or custard.

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
