How to Make Beef Asparagus Stir Fry
- In a shallow glass dish, whisk together 1 tablespoon oil, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger.
- Add the sliced beef and toss to coat evenly.
- Marinate for at least 15 minutes (longer is better!).
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, beef broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and remaining 1/2 tablespoon ginger until smooth.
- Set the sauce mixture aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and brown on all sides.
- Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside, keeping it warm.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet.
- Add the asparagus, red bell pepper, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add the water chestnuts and onions. Stir-fry for another minute.
- Pour the cornstarch mixture into the skillet.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens (about 2 minutes).
- Return the beef to the skillet and heat through.
- Serve the Beef Asparagus Stir-fry immediately over hot cooked rice.
- Garnish with sesame seeds.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
