How to Make Honey Walnut Shrimp

  1. In small saucepan bring water and sugar to a boil
  2. Add walnuts and continue boiling for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally
  3. Drain and place walnuts on a cookie sheet to dry
  4. Grate cabbage and carrots and toss lightly to mix
  5. Place on serving platter
  6. Set aside
  7. In medium bowl, whip egg white with wire whisk until light and foamy
  8. Stir in corn starch until it takes on a thick consistency
  9. Heat oil in deep skillet over medium-high heat to 350 degrees f
  10. While oil is heating make the sauce
  11. In medium bowl mix together mayonnaise, honey, sweetened condensed milk, orange juice and orange zest
  12. Set aside
  13. Dip shrimp into batter mixture and fry in heated oil 3-5 minutes or until golden brown
  14. You will want to do this in 3-4 batches
  15. Remove and drain on paper towels
  16. Place shrimp on top of cabbage and carrot mixture, drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with the glazed walnuts
  17. Can be served on steamed rice or by itself as a salad
