  • Tofu
  • Salt
  • Garlic Clove
  • Onion
  • Scallions
  • Parsley
  • Dried Dill

How to Make Basic Soy Burgers

  1. If using dried soybeans, cook them according to package directions until tender. Drain well.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the cooked soybeans with a potato masher or fork until mostly smooth but still slightly chunky.
  3. Add the breadcrumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, soy sauce, nutritional yeast, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Form the mixture into 4-6 patties, depending on desired size.
  5. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Carefully place the soy patties in the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and heated through.
  7. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor

Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
