How to Make Sachlab
- In a medium saucepan, combine 4 cups of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- While whisking constantly, gradually add ¼ cup cornstarch to the warm milk to prevent lumps. Continue whisking until smooth.
- Stir in ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water (mazaar).
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens considerably. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
- The Sachlab should be very thick, like light yogurt. If it's too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
- If needed, stir in a packet of Splenda or another sweetener to your liking.
- Pour the hot Sachlab into one large mug or two small mugs.
- Divide 1 tablespoon of chopped almonds, 1 tablespoon of chopped pistachios, 1 tablespoon of shredded coconut, 1 tablespoon of raisins, and a pinch of cinnamon between the mugs.
- Do not stir the mixture.
- Serve immediately and let each person stir their own drink before enjoying.
