How to Make Amy S Meatloaf

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, gently combine 1.5 lbs ground beef, 0.5 lbs ground turkey, 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, 1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1 large egg, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into an oval loaf and place it in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
  4. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake for 50 minutes.
  6. While the meatloaf bakes, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup packed brown sugar and 2 tbsp Dijon mustard until a smooth paste forms.
  7. After 50 minutes, carefully remove the foil and spread the brown sugar-mustard glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  8. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
