How to Make Adriana S Pasta Pie
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the meat crust: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sausage, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Press the meat mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 15 minutes. This partially bakes the crust.
- Prepare the pasta sauce: In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
- Add ground beef, sausage, and tomatoes. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the remaining sauce ingredients: oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.
- Cook pasta according to package directions.
- Once the pasta is cooked, drain and set aside.
- Spread half of the pasta sauce over the partially baked meat crust.
- Layer the cooked pasta evenly over the sauce.
- Top the pasta with the remaining sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. If baking from frozen, bake for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
