- Add the browned ground beef, cooked bacon and onions to your slow cooker.
- Add the remaining ingredients: 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained; 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained; 1 cup beef broth; 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce; 1 tsp garlic powder; 1 tsp onion powder; 1/2 tsp black pepper; 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional).
- Stir all ingredients until well combined.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, or until beef is tender. (For a 2-quart slow cooker, halve the recipe).
- Serve hot. Enjoy!
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Want to unlock deeper, more complex flavors? Try toasting your whole spices before grinding them, or blooming ground spices in a little warm oil to enhance their aroma. Deglazing your pan with a bit of stock, wine, or even water after browning ingredients can capture those tasty caramelized bits, adding richness to your dish.
