  • 1 medium onion, chopped

How to Make Awesome Lasagna Casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Mix well.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  8. Layer with 1/3 of the cooked lasagna noodles, 1/2 of the ricotta mixture, and 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese.
  10. Top with remaining meat sauce, noodles, and mozzarella cheese.
  11. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is golden brown.
  12. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil (optional). Serve with a side salad and Italian cheese twists.
