- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, eggs, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 3-4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Top with another layer of meat sauce and then another 3-4 lasagna noodles.
- Spread the remaining ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by the remaining meat sauce.
- Top with the mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
- Let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Chef's Tip for Extra Flavor
Small additions can make a big impact! Try a sprinkle of fresh herbs, a dash of your favorite spice blend, or a squeeze of citrus just before serving to really enhance the flavors of your dish.
